This section explains how to navigate the Carity App’s main features — Profile, Progress, and Tasks — and how to make the most of your health data. You’ll also find tips on managing your goals, interpreting your health scores, and optimizing your rehabilitation journey.

1.Profile

The Profile section allows you to manage your personal settings, therapy goals, connected devices, and Care Team details. You can also access Carity’s official legal documents, manage your data, send feedback or support requests, and more.

Key Features:

a) Your Profile Information:

  • View your participant details (no name or date of birth is collected).
  • Includes your unique Participant ID and the data you entered during onboarding (age, sex, height, weight, Carity plan start and end date).
  • These details help set up generic therapy targets recommended for individuals with similar characteristics, so you can start your program immediately and adjust your targets over time.

b) Therapy Targets:

  • Set or modify your rehabilitation goals in collaboration with your Care Team.
  • Adjust targets for maximum heart rate (HR max), exercise intensity and duration, VO₂max improvement, and beta-blocker considerations.
  • Why it matters: Personalizing your targets ensures Carity adapts to your unique needs, making your rehabilitation experience more effective.

c) My Medication:

  • Maintain a list of your medications.
  • View your current medication schedule and share your medication history with your Care Team.
  • Why it matters: When changing doctors or Care Teams, medication history is often missing. With Carity, you can present your complete medication list to your doctor with just one tap.

d) My Care Team:

  • Your Care Team is automatically added via QR code during onboarding.
  • Your weekly Adherence Reports are sent to your Care Team.
  • If your Care Team changes or you finish your program early, you can remove your Care Team to stop report sharing.
  • Why it matters: Your Care Team does not have to check every report in detail, but these reports help guide discussions about your progress and therapy goals. Regularly sharing them improves commitment and accountability in your rehabilitation program.

e) My Supporters:

  • Add Supporters (family, friends, or another Carity patient) to encourage your rehabilitation journey.
  • Why it matters: Research shows that sharing progress with others increases motivation and adherence.\

f) My Devices:

  • View connected devices, including smartwatches, mobile phones, and third-party apps that provide data to Carity.
  • Manually refresh data—useful for troubleshooting data connectivity issues.

g) Information Menu (Top-Right of the Profile Screen):

  • Legal information & documents from Carity.
  • Data management options, such as:
    • Managing research consents.
    • Accessing documents (e.g., payment slips).
    • Exporting all your data from Carity.
    • Deleting your account.
  • Feedback & Support: Send support requests or share feedback directly from the app.

2. Progress

The Progress section displays your health data and tracks your rehabilitation journey. Carity uses three main indicators to simplify complex data: Heart, Mind, and Performance.

a) Heart Score:

Reflects your cardiovascular progress, based on data from your smartwatch

Metrics Used:

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) (if available)
  • VO₂max (if available)
  • 6-Minute Walking Distance (if available)

TIP: VO₂max and 6-minute walking distance data may take longer to appear (around 3 weeks), depending on your wearable.

b) Performance Score:

Tracks your weekly exercise and rehabilitation efforts.

Metrics Used:

  • Exercise Duration (from recorded workouts)
  • Intensity that counts into the score:
    • Moderate
    • Vigorous

Carity automatically classifies your exercise into different intensity categories based on your heart rate and set therapy targets.

After each workout, you can review the full distribution of your exercise and check whether you stayed within, exceeded, or fell below the recommended intensity ranges—which are moderate and vigorous.

We understand that it can be frustrating if a workout results in most of your minutes being categorized as light exercise, meaning they don’t contribute to your score. However, this is an important indicator that your exercise intensity may need adjustment. If this happens frequently, consider modifying your workout intensity or discussing your target ranges with your Care Team to ensure they are tailored to your needs.

Weekly Reset:

  • The Performance Score resets every Monday to encourage weekly progress.
  • Aim to reach 100% by the end of each week.

TIP: If your exercise data seems incorrect or missing, check your wearable’s sync status and permissions. Refer to the Troubleshooting Guide if needed.

c) Mind Status:

Think of the Mind petal as a status indicator, which can be classified as Good, Observe, or Low.

This status is based on your responses to periodic questionnaires assessing anxiety, depression, and quality of life. These questionnaires are sent to you via the Task menu, so it’s important to complete them regularly.

If your score is Low, don’t be alarmed—it does not mean you have been diagnosed with anxiety or depression. Instead, it serves as a gentle prompt to discuss your mental well-being with your doctor, who can provide a proper assessment.

Carity does not diagnose mental health conditions; it simply helps screen whether a more detailed evaluation might be beneficial.

Metrics Used:

  • Anxiety levels
  • Depression score
  • Physical and Psychological Quality of Life

These questionnaires appear as Tasks and should be completed regularly for the most accurate Mind Score.

3. Tasks

Tasks in Carity help you stay engaged, track your progress, and adjust your therapy as needed. They provide valuable feedback, encourage self-reflection, and help you maximize the benefits of the program.

Types of Tasks:

a) Share Reports

  • Share your progress with your Care Team, Health Coach, or Supporters.
  • Helps you stay accountable and motivated in your rehabilitation journey.

b) Target Updates

  • Review your therapy targets and adjust them if needed.
  • Consult your Care Team for personalized recommendations.
  • Even if you don’t make changes, reflecting on your targets regularly can help you stay on track.

c) Mind Questionnaires:

  • Assess anxiety, depression, and quality of life through short questionnaires.
  • Results directly impact your Mind Score, helping track mental well-being over time.

d) Post-Exercise Evaluations:

  • Rate your perceived exertion after workouts.
  • Answer simple questions about how you felt during your exercise session.

e) Activity Planning:

  • Set weekly exercise goals tailored to your rehabilitation plan.
  • Plan how to distribute moderate and vigorous exercise throughout the week for optimal results.

f) Weight and Blood Pressure Tracking:

  • Log measurements manually or sync them with compatible smart devices.
  • Helps track long-term trends and progress.

g) Research Consent:

  • Decide whether you’d like to participate in Carity’s research programs.
  • Basic consent helps Carity improve the program for all users while maintaining privacy and security.

h) Little Tips & Smart Reminders:

  • Forgot to record your workout? Not wearing your smartwatch enough?
  • Carity detects patterns and provides personalized feedback to help you fully benefit from the program.
  • Depending on your smartwatch and connected system (Apple Health Kit, Health Connect), these tips may be enabled or disabled.

i) Feedback Requests:

  • Periodically, Carity will ask for your evaluation to learn what works well and what needs improvement.
  • Your input directly contributes to making Carity better for all users.

j) Informative Tasks:

  • Moving into a new phase of your program? Considering extending your Carity Plan or exploring additional services?
  • These tasks provide timely updates and explain next steps, ensuring you make the most of Carity.
